IMPROVING RELATIONSHIPS

April 8, 15, 22, 29

Learn to Love without Pain

Why is it that so often our relationships and interactions with others result in a storm of painful emotions? Why do we feel so much grief when we are separated from those we care for? And why does what appeared to be a “perfect match” so often end in conflict? The answer to all these questions can be found within Buddha’s teachings on love and attachment.

By learning to distinguish between these two very different, but often mixed states of mind, we can establish the foundation for lasting harmonious relationships, improve our experience of pure love and solve many of our daily problems.

Each session will start with a breathing meditation to settle the mind and then a talk exploring the topic of the week. This will be followed by a concluding meditation to help us take the teaching to heart and an opportunity to ask questions. Everyone is welcome, no previous experience is necessary.

BUILDING SELF-CONFIDENCE

May 6th, 13th, 20th

Many people suffer from low self- esteem and lack of self-confidence. Such non-productive ways of thinking can greatly hinder our quality of life, as well as prevent us from being able to move forward or realize our spiritual potential. During this course we will learn how to develop authentic self-confidence through training in meditation and adopting new ways of thinking.

Week 1 – Self-Confidence Vs Self-Importance

Discover the difference between these two minds and how to maintain powerful confidence while remaining a humble and respectful attitude towards others.

Week 2 – Relating to our Potential

Buddha taught that within each of us lies the potential for limitless love, compassion and wisdom called our “Buddha nature” that exists even when our mind is at its most negative state.

Week 3 – Taking Control

Normally our mind is pulled here and there by circumstances, good or bad conditions, criticism and blame. In this class, we will discover how to take control over our mind and develop an unshakable inner strength that is not so easily perturbed.
