    10:30 am - 1:00 pm

with guest teacher Paul Jenkins

Saturday 28th April – 10.30am – 1pm

We can be our own harshest judge. We can easily develop very high expectations or ourselves and then beat ourselves up when we don’t reach them. Self-criticism and guilt don’t help us to become a better or more effective person, in fact, they tend to cripple us, hold us back and keep us stuck in unhelpful habits. Furthermore, they destroy our inner peace and self-confidence and can even lead to depression and other self-destructive habits.
On this course we will explore how we can develop more realistic expectations of ourselves, whilst still working to improve ourselves. We will learn simple and reliable methods for letting go of self-criticism and guilt and how we can instead encourage ourselves to steadily grow and improve.
Everybody is welcome to attend this course which will include guided meditations and lots of practical advice for positive and happy living.

This course will be taught by Paul Jenkins, who is the principal teacher at Tara Kadampa Meditation Centre in Derbyshire.  A dedicated student of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Paul has been studying and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for over 30 years.  He is married with 3 children and has practical experience of integrating Modern Buddhism within a busy, professional, family life.

For many years a senior teacher at Manjushri KMC, Paul is well known for the clarity and warmth of his teachings and has deep experience of practicing meditation and teaching Buddhism at all levels. His relaxed and friendly approach helps students to easily take the teachings to heart and put them into practice in daily life.

The course will include meditations and time to relax and discuss.
