This Drop-in class includes guided meditations and a practical talk about integrating positive insights into daily life.  Each class will begin with a breathing meditation to settle the mind and then a talk exploring the topic of the week. This will be followed by a concluding meditation to help us take the understandings to heart and an opportunity to ask questions after the class.  Everyone is welcome, no previous experience is necessary.  Drop-in any week and pay £7, or book a course and get a discount 🙂

LETTING GO OF NEGATIVE THOUGHTS

Have you noticed how we generally don’t choose our thoughts? In fact, generally our thoughts are in control of us rather than us choosing them. On any given day, we have countless thoughtsand many of them are unconstructive and disturb our mind, sometimes ‘forcing’ us to engage in actions that are harmful. If we check, these thoughts prevent us from being happy and being the person we really want to be.

“Happiness and suffering are states of mind, and so their main causes are not to be found outside the mind. If we want to be truly happy and free from suffering, we must learn how to control our mind” Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

On this series of classes we will explore how we can gradually transform our mind through meditation. Meditation is a process of learning to cultivate and become deeply familiar with helpful and constructive attitudes. By training in meditation we can cultivate inner peace and a deep sense of purpose in our lives. The more we practice this type of meditation, the more we will have the freedom to choose positive thoughts that make us happy in our daily life.  The more our mind is positive and happy, the more our life improves.

We will explore how to work with different parts of our mind such as intention, mindfulness, concentration and wisdom –  so as to enable us to cultivate and hold positive attitudes both in and out of formal meditation.

On this series of classes, explore how to develop peace of mind and protect our mind from disturbing thoughts, anxiety and pain. We will explore how we can gently and comfortably train ourselves to generate a more balanced and uplifting outlook on life and thereby find happiness from within.
