In this and inspiring 5-week course, Kadampa Buddhist nun and Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Leksang will guide you through practical meditations and timeless teachings that give us a clear and practical insight into our own mind. By learning to understand our own mind, we will learn to develop mental freedom and be able to live lightly.

It is great for beginners as well as those with experience.

About the course 

Join us for a transformative five-week meditation course in the heart of Birmingham, guided by Buddhist nun and experienced teacher Gen Kelsang Leksang. 

Drawing from the profound wisdom of How to Understand the Mind by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, this course offers a rare opportunity to explore the nature and function of the mind from a deeply meditative and practical perspective. 

Each week, you’ll learn how to recognize and understand different types of thoughts and mental habits, gaining tools to reduce stress, anxiety, and negative patterns. With gentle but powerful meditations, clear teachings, and plenty of space for reflection, you’ll begin to unlock the potential for lasting inner peace and mental freedom. 

This course is suitable for beginners and experienced meditators alike, and offers a down-to-earth, accessible introduction to one of Buddhism’s most essential topics.

About the Teacher

The teacher of this class is Gen Kelsang Leksang, she has been an ordained Buddhist nun for 18 years. She has been studying under the guidance of the meditation master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for over 20 years and was first appointed as resident teacher at KMC Birmingham in 2007.  

Known for her caring and positive manner, she has the ability to inspire people to improve their own lives by showing how Buddha’s teachings are relevant to the experiences of modern-day people.
