Frequently Asked Questions
What weekly classes are available?
Do I need to be Buddhist or have any meditation experience to attend a weekly class?
If I'm a complete beginner, should I attend a weekly class or a weekend event?
Either is fine; it really depends on your own circumstances and preference. Weekly classes are shorter and the groups are smaller, whereas weekend events often attract larger audiences and take place over a whole day or more.
Which weekly class is suitable for someone with some experience of meditation?
The Monday evening class is a more in-depth class for those with some experience of meditation. However, all our classes are designed to be simple yet profound, so that every class provides something for everyone.
What should I expect at a weekly class?
The General Programme classes begin with a relaxation meditation, followed by a talk. This will cover the basics of meditation and mindfulness techniques, emphasising how these can be applied to your daily life. There’ll also be one or two guided meditations within the class so you can practise meditating on the topic that’s just been explained. To conclude, there’ll be some time for questions at the end – in-person, via audio or via the Zoom chat function.
Will I be asked to say anything, or be asked to speak in front of a group of people?
No, but you can ask the teacher questions at the end of the class if you want to.
Is there any physical exercise involved, such as yoga?
No, our classes focus on meditation alone.
